Ouray County Road 24

Here’s a video taken on a rainy May day along the length of Ouray, Colorado, County Road 24. This road is often overlooked by visitors because it’s in Pleasant Valley rather than way up in the high country. Yet it’s just as beautiful. The road is well-graveled and can be traveled by any vehicle. Sometimes it gets a little wash-boarded, so if you’re in a “standard sedan,” just take it easy. Because the road is so well-used, the county often adds gravel, which can be interesting for motorcycles as all those pebbles act as ball bearings. In this case, just keep a light hand on the tiller—the bike will be squirmy underneath you, but you shouldn’t have any problem.
