Welcome to Dave Casler’s site and blog!
I like to share information and that's what this site is for. I love living in Southwestern Colorado in the San Juan Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountain range. I enjoy motorcycling, both street and dirt, so I keep GPS tracks of my travels to share along with photographs. Oh, the wildflowers aren't bad either!

One very popular book I publish for the local railroad museum is about historic narrow gauge railroads in the San Juans.-

Last Dollar Road has great fall color every year! I went through this delightful San Miguel County, Colorado, road on 30 Sept 2011, a few days before peak–good thing I did because the weather turned bad. The slideshow also includes … Continue reading

Uncompahgre Plateau July 4th Wildflowers
My wife and I made a July 4th pilgrimage to Uncompahgre Plateau to photograph wildflowers. Early July seems the best time to see the mules ears, which cover dozens of acres along Montrose County Road 90 just east of where … Continue reading
Buck Trail Wildflowers
Yesterday, while riding with Gary (see here), the wildflowers were everywhere. I stopped along the Buck Trail to snap some pictures. The flower above appears to be from the ragwort

Ouray CR 4 Roughed Up By Recent Rainstorms
After dinner I hopped on the XT-250 and went up Ouray County Road 4. I went over it last week and found that the recent torrential downpours had wreaked havoc with the road. This evening I found that the county … Continue reading

Road Updates: CR 2, 4, Lower Powerline Road
I had the XT-250 out this evening. Here’s a quick road status: Ouray County Road 4: Open, no mud, but the recent rains have torn it up pretty badly—watch for loose rocks where there weren’t any before. I took wildflower … Continue reading
