Fall Color in Stealey Mountain Trail Complex near Ridgway, Colorado

Here are snippets of fall color video I took yesterday up in the Stealey Mountain Trail Complex. The trail complex is a large collection of ATV trails accessible from Vista Point, Stealey Mountain Trailhead, and an unmarked point further east, all off Ouray County, Colorado, County Road 8. The area is readily accessible from Ridgway.

The Stealey Mountain ATV Trail Complex sits astride Owl Creek. This ten minute video provides a beautiful motorcycle (dirt bike) trip through the trails highlighting the fall color. I took the video with a helmet-mounted GoPro HD Hero2 camera. The video is constructed in CyberLink PowerDirector 10, and the royalty-free music provided by SmartSound Royalty Free Music. If anyone has any suggestions regarding how to upload to YouTube so that the unfortunate video blocky artifacts don’t appear, I’m all ears!

Hi Marty. Sorry to hear about the auto-immune disease. I’ve now given up on the motorcycle too (though I still have my street bike). After the accident even until now I have no physical stamina. So my wife and I ride our 2012 Polaris RZR 800 over trails such as those in the Stealey Mountain Trail Complex. In Colorado and a few other states, there are trails set aside for ATVs, but they must be 50-inches or less in width. The RZR just squeaks by. We’ve had lots of fun with it. 73, Dave, KEØOG

Thanks for posting up the trail videos for us. I went to your site after watching lots of you ham videos( which I have learned more from than anything else). I rode for 40 years until last year when I contracted an auto-immune disease that caused me to lose about 60% of my muscles in my arms and legs, so life has changed drastically. While watching your video on Stealey Mt.. trails, I now realize I can still do this if I get a 4-wheeler or Honda Pilot that I won’t have to worry about balancing or holding a top heavy motorcycle up. I should have great fun watching all your videos you have on your site. Now I know why you live where you do.
